Book: People. Project Cornwall

£10.00

The People. Project Cornwall book: photographic portraits and first-person accounts giving a voice to people in Cornwall who’ve struggled with housing insecurity or faced homelessness since the start of the pandemic.

People. Project Cornwall was a collaboration between St Petrocs, StreetDraw24 CIC and social documentary photographer Gavan Goulder.

In summer 2022, the project heard over 70 people’s accounts of housing insecurity and homelessness at a time where finding an affordable home in Cornwall was becoming increasingly hard. Many of these people also had their portrait photograph taken, refusing negative stereotypes, stigma and shame.

Each individual was asked three questions. What has been going on for you, around housing, since the start of the pandemic? What helped? And, what do you think people don’t understand about the housing situation in Cornwall?

The project culminated in an indoor and outdoor exhibition of the portraits in November and December 2022, and is an example of the arts put to social good.

If you want to understand housing insecurity and homelessness from those experiencing it in this snapshot of time, buy this book.

Paperback, 104 pages. 250x170mm.
A free PDF download is also available from the People. Project website.
